White Light Teeth Whitening For You?

Is it true that by adding white light teeth whitening bleaches will activate faster and whiten better?

The jury is still out. It has been sold as the easy and fast solution for home teeth brightening. But before you jump on the white-light band wagon look a few things.

The way procedure is supposed to work:

It is advertised as an alternative to in-office laser whitening at a much lower price and with much faster results than other “home’ whiteners. The system will provide a whitening gel bleach product that is applied to a tray and held up onto your teeth. Then you hold a “white” light to your mouth for about 10 minutes. The light serves as an activation agent for the gel and speeds up the process so that only the 10 minutes each day are required instead of the usual hour by other tray whitening methods. The user is guaranteed results of greatly brighter and whiter teeth within 7 to 14 days of use.

The pit falls of using white light products:

Reviews vary as to the effectiveness of the white light teeth whitening system. You must be careful as you research reviews since many are sponsored by the manufacturers themselves. But it seems that a lot of users have been disappointed. First, the trays furnished are not molded to the teeth. This lets the gel seep out from under the tray making the process mess. Also the gel can irritate gums and be ingested. Finally the use of white light as an activator is in question. It may help in speeding up the gel bleaching process but according to some users does not whiten the teeth much in only 10 minutes. And they do not recommend using the product more than 10 minutes for each treatment.

All in all, there are many products on the market to whiten your teeth. Most products work at least to some extent. Some will fit own needs better (cost, time, etc.) and even the difficulty in whitening stains on your particular teeth.

Nothing is better than letting theĀ  dentist do it. That is of course if you can afford that expense. If you do use your dentist, you may consider what others have done in using at-home whitening products to maintain your white teeth after the treatment.

One of the recommended products because of its simplicity and ease of use is Alta White. To learn more about Alta White’s Trial Order
